New and broken

Well I picked up a Ruger American Ranch in 5.56 last week and upon getting home I discovered that the top camming lug was broken in the box.  UGHHH, off to service it will go.  I should look on the bright side this will be a supressor host and my stamp is aways off so I should stop complaning.

There's a reason I don't by Ruger or Remingtons any more.  And I was a huge fan of both.

One thing about it, Ruger will fix it. You can't QC every rifle going out the door.

I'm looking at a Ruger American predator in .243 for my Dad actually.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

5.56, the part has a fracture that was present and a seperate fresh break, I'm not worried Ruger will make it right.

I was considering a Remington 700 the other day and somewhat horrified by what that firearm has become. Kind of sad where price point has taken quality.

I totally agree with you on the Remington and now the Marlin brand they picked up and have made a joke of. The horror stories on these abound. But I am still willing to give Ruger a pass on this one. At least for now. I have bought two new Rugers in the last few years and both have been excellent. It looks like Sparky wound up with a flawed part that made it past the QC department. Let us know how they handle the issue. I will be interested to know because I have been eyeballing the new Precision Rifle of late.

I have a couple questions...

When you say you "picked it up" apparently you did not open and inspect.

Did you buy online and just pick it up at a FFL who did the transfer?

Did you actually purchase it at a local shop?

I never complete the transaction until I inspect the goods, but that's just me, I guess.

Purchased local, I did inspect, the part that broke was under a shroud that is not easy to remove without tools, the shop swapped the entire gun out and is sending it Ruger, they have seen a couple similar issues lately, the new was torn down and not picked, zero issues upon detailed inspection.

Nice to know that customer service is alive and well at some shops.

Actually they just have yours on file haha.

Glad they took care of you.  A lot of places will tell you to contact the manufacture and turn away,

That's great and great customer service.  I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of that rifle.  Looking at one myself, it's a great compact package.  I wish it could take AR mags though.  A nice little 10 rounder would be sweet in that rifle.
