I'm referring to the idea discussed here before (and I think it is the case in some other states) that accidentally (or intentionally) carrying on someone's posted property isn't a heinous "firearms offense" but a simple matter of trespassing.
This seems consistent with they way property rights are protected across the board. If someone is hunting on my land without permission, I'm presumably going to get him for trespassing.

Iowa is like that, right? Signs or declarations of a "gun-free zone" don't carry any legal weight, but if a property owner spots your gun, they can simply withdraw their permission for you to be on their property. Once they make it known that they want you to leave, if you don't comply, you're trespassing.
The poll only has a few hundred votes right now. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Besides, I don't think the general public is really going to understand this bill; even the interviewees in the story seem not to comprehend that all of the current automatic gun-free zones will still be able to be gun-free if the bill becomes law. They'll just have to post signs.
