Gun control activist to join President Obama at Omaha speech
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:09:48 AM »
Nebraska's resident expert on gun safety will meet with the President.

http://www.ketv.com/news/gun-control-activists-to-join-president-obama-at-omaha-speech/37396306

Because, after all, nobody understands gun safety or criminology like an expert in (per her UNL bio) "nineteenth-century American literature, and late nineteenth-century children's literature."   ::)

Just watched the embedded news story video.  Funny how the crowd shots of her vigils are kept to a minimum, so you don't see that there are only a handful of people there.

So you are saying that the one person in Nebraska that is the most scared of guns is going to go meet the one person in Nebraska surrounded by the most amount of guns?

Interesting....

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.  I carry a lot of ammo because I cant run very fast.

Nice language.  Very well spoken for a college professor. NOT.  ;D

The UNL English Department at its finest, apparently.

Her communication skills are as undeveloped as her logic skills.

My opinion on it:
=======
Amanda Gailey is a remarkably foul-mouthed individual who thinks that self-defense isn't a right, and who makes certain that no one is allowed to make any point that doesn't agree with her viewpoint. (She not only deletes opposing points, facts, and citations, but blocks anyone who disagrees with her on her site.)

And people ask me why *I'm* so mean.

https://precisionresponse.wordpress.com/2016/01/14/why-are-you-so-mean/
========

It always amazes me how some people who pride themselves on their tolerance immediately go to verbal abuse and threats of violence when people disagree with them.

she also had a post or two trying to sell "F*** THE NRA" pins.  i wonder if that could be used for slander?

i'm glad (sarcasm) UNL decides to keep paying her.  a great role model for NAGV, my tax money and for her students.

Was actually wondering about this a little bit. Our taxes go to UNL, is there any backlash that could be used to let her go?

I'm assuming as an "associate professor" that she doesn't have tenure, making it much easier to let her go.

No. As much as we disagree with her, she has a 1A right to speak against the 2A.

Wasn't so much thinking because she was speaking against the second amendment, more along the lines of "look at the image this associate professor is presenting of UNL" because of the F this, F that.... post she has.

there's an article on the blaze:

ETA:  WOW, you should see the articles on this topic, they pretty much say the same thing, but still.....  just google her name.

Perhaps folks should question the UN Board of Regents.  Doesn't sound like the chancellor cares.  He reports to the board.  The board may care about negative publicity.

What I remember from my college days is that tenure is granted at the associate professor level. A department has a limited number of tenure track positions. After about five years, an assistant professor either is promoted to associate and gets tenure or he has to find another job.

Let Amanda Gailey continue to make a fool of herself. The worse she behaves, the better we look.

Hmmmmmmmm...................

I wonder if her annual faculty report will include her Facebook postings to be counted as scholarly publications.

Given all the critical feedback here on the Forum and elsewhere, they might even qualify as refereed publications, which are given higher credit in assessing scholarly academic performance.

Could result in a double-digit salary increase for the past year's performance.

Just wonderin'.
