Anyone moving to Mewe.com ?
« on: February 06, 2016, 03:24:10 PM »
With Facebook purging gun friendly sites many folks are looking elsewhere for there time wasting media choice. I have been growing ever more frustrated with the data mining, targeted adds, clickbait, and general features on FB. The biggest thing keeping me logging in is the ability to stay up to speed with family and a few friends and exposure to hobbies, mostly gun/ shooting related. Finally FB has done something to get the growing number of irritated users to start their emigration. Many of my younger siblings had already using mostly snapchat, which I have no use for. Mewe is like FB with snapchat as I understand it.

Although I hate learning new media, Mewe seems like what I always though FB should be. Privacy is their number one reason for founding it. One of the founders is the father of the world wide web, no, not AL GORE! No targeted adds, you own your content, no data mining, no liberal bias. While there isn't much going on over there yet, I can see it becoming even more of a time suck the FB has been for me.  ;D

Anyone else messing around over there? What are your thoughts? Want to be my friend? I have seen R Lanoha over there. I may friend request him. Not much outside of gun groups for me there yet.

I believe you can hide the chat. It is going to take a while to level out as it is new and not many people have signed up. That's another great feature is there are no targeted ads. They do not spy on you or sell your data. That's the biggest reason I like it. Of course there is already enough of me out there to be used for nefarious purposes. That is one thing about today's youth. They want the government to be involved in every aspect of their lives and make everything about them easily available to be used for deciding if they will receive the services they seek. We already know that those in government have targeted groups they find undesirable.

If you  are in a phone app, open the chat window and the 3 dots in the right top corner you can shut off the chat.

I quit FB several years ago because I noticed that they were as bad as the NSA in tracking me around the web.  After you have FB cancel your account you can't click an FB button on any website, even by accident,  for at least three months or more OR FB immediately reactivates your account and starts tracking you again.

Make sure you guys join the NFOA group page along with the personal page. I think more will happen in the group page since its easier to communicate and contact people.
