What: Church Security Firearms Training

When: June 27th – July 1, 2016
             Mon-Thu 6:00PM-10:00PM
             Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM

Where: Classroom: Lifegate Church, 15555 W Dodge Rd, Omaha NE 68154
           Range: 88 Tactical, 2750 Co Rd GH, Tekamah NE 68061

This course is designed to teach students the fundamentals of firearm and empty-hand skills with a focus on presenting these skills in a church security environment. Instruction will include classroom, hands on and live fire range. This course is designed for anyone who works on an existing armed church security team or who is planning on starting an armed security team. Note that a valid CCW permit is a pre-requisite for this course.

Class size: This class is limited to the first 20 students. Slots will be assigned first come, first serve.

Deadline: Deposits and registration forms must be received by April 30th, 2016 in order to hold your seat in the class.

Cost: $327.50
•   A deposit of $300 is required to hold your slot in the class. The remaining $27.50 is a separate range fee and will be due at a later time.

Required items:
•   Current Concealed Carry Permit from your state.
•   Serviceable handgun.
•   750 rounds of quality ammunition.
•   Adequate holster: Holster must be safe and cover the trigger when the firearm is holstered. No cross draw or shoulder holsters. A good quality, strong-side, outside the waistband holster is recommended.
•   Adequate belt.
•   Minimum of 3 magazines and/or speed loaders.
•   Magazine pouch on belt.
•   Eye and ear protection.
•   Normal range bag equipment: Cleaning equipment, basic tools required to maintain your pistol, holster and pouches.
•   Appropriate range attire and gear to ensure a safe outdoor training experience: Sunscreen, bug spray etc. Dress appropriately, no shorts or sandals etc. Bring a hat, rain jacket and other inclement weather gear as appropriate.
•   Water.

Topics covered:
•   How to coach your partner – what to watch for when working with a teammate
•   “Square range” drills and skill building – first things first (building blocks)
•   Developing speed by smooth presentation and strength in your draw
•   Trigger control and trigger reset
•   How to shoot with strength and shed energy leaks
•   Static drills, getting on target quickly
•   Precision is a function of time and distance – developing your own personal precision gauge
•   Failure response, drug/armor drills (what if your center mass shots don’t work?)
•   Rapid and effective magazine changes – tactically reloading and forced reloads
•   Verbalization during stoppages and malfunctions; how to deliver a verbal challenge to a threat and how to communicate correctly and concisely with your teammates (what do you say?)
•   Type I and type II stoppages
•   How to correctly find, move toward, and use cover
•   How to correctly search and check under low objects (vehicles, beds, benches, etc.)
•   Cornering: “tactical geometry” and the use of cover & concealment
•   Horizontal and vertical displacements – how to shoot, move, and manage your gear
•   Lateral slides, moving across thresholds and doorways
•   Dominant and support side shooting, operating a pistol with only one hand and the importance of maintaining a master grip
•   Decision-making: shoot / don’t shoot determination
•   Alternative firearm positions for moving in a crowd or among people
•   Shooting on the move, forward / backward / laterally
•   The Power of the Pair: working with a partner or small team
•   Concepts and principles of deploying and shooting in low light
•   CQB (close quarters battle), defending your firearm and yourself up close
•   Defensive countermeasures
•   Multiple distances, adjusting for near/distant threats
•   How to move off-line, intelligent movement in a gunfight
