« on: January 14, 2016, 04:19:05 PM »
I ordered the reamers and fixture to install front sight towers on AR-15 that  don't  have the grooves for the taper pins, if any one needs this done, let me know

I have been looking for someone willing to help me out with this for some time now. How can I get ahold of you to see about doing this?

Just curious....does the fixture assure proper alignment of the front sight with the center line of the receiver?

to be truthful NO,,    the problem is with the front sight frame,  there is no standard for them,   some are warped, some have the ears on one side higher than the other, its very hard to compare 2 and come out even,  they are used "as cast" no machine work done to make them strait, its what ever come out of the mold,
to set them up. I chuck the barrel between centers in a lathe, and use that to scribe a strait line centered on the gas port.  then scribe a line on the sight frame, from the gas tube hole down,
then put the sight tower on the barrel and line these two lines up.  that way the sight tower is centered on the barrel,  but who knows if the tower is bent or not ,

I have a Lathe and Mill and anything else I would need to do it at work, but being its a gun part and they guy who runs the place is very anti gun that just is not happening. So I have to look for help eslewhere! LOL!
