Cannon Double Door Gun Safe
« on: December 13, 2017, 08:18:58 PM »
Hello everyone.  I have a gigantic double door Cannon gun safe that I am looking to sell.  It is roughly 6.5 foot tall (not counting the pallets it is sitting on), 3 foot deep, and 5 foot wide.  It is currently sitting on an extended pallet.  This thing is a monster.  Any ideas on how to go about selling it?  I would like to stay away from Craigslist if possible just because I want serious inquiries only.  Because of the size, the buyer would need a flatbed or a large truck and bring a pallet jack as well.  I just don't know how to go about selling it or where, etc.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Do you have pics of it?  What color?  How much are you wanting out of it?

If you offer it here, I'm sure you'll get interest.  Pictures would help.

^This.

I doubt a pallet jack will be enough to load it into a truck bed.  Is it in a place that's accessible to a forklift or skidloader with forks?

Thanks for the replies!  It is currently in a garage so a forklift or skidloader with forks would have access.  The safe is black with Gold detail.  Digital external keypad.  I must say that the external keypad failed last year, so to get into the safe and install a brand new locking mechanism, the safe was drilled professionally by Able Locksmith.  When the new locking mechanism was installed, the aligment was altered so you cannot redrill in the same spot to gain access.  Price is negotiable.  I have also attached some pictures for reference.  Please let me know what you guys think.

I tried to attach photos and it said the files are too big to post them.  I guess if any of you are interested in photos, I can email or text them to you.

i bet that thing weighs 2,000  pounds! with out grabbing a tape measure .. if memory serves a 4x8 sheet of plywood just fit in my trucks bed..  so would a 5' wide  6' tall 3' deep safe fit laying down in a full sized pickup? unless maybe it was loaded in on it's side and god help ya if it tipped over while driving. it would be best to be moved by a truck with a load lift and can be strapped down proper. you could use a heavy duty trailer as this safe is about the same weight as a small car. getting it on & strapping it down may be a chore on some trailers. pallet jacks and ramps, uneven ground are dangerous load can shift, rock side to side and tip very easy i know first hand, i worked the docks at Montgomery wards for years .. the flat bed would work if you can find one..

some residential moving company's will not move items over 500lbs "need special equipment" the movers that moved me 16 years ago, squawked about moving my small safe at 580lbs .. i told them i can pull the 280lb door off to get it under their 500 lb limit and they can move 2 items lol they ended up moving the safe with door on .. maybe call Gun's Unlimited they had a company they refer that moves Safes for customers. i think they were going to charge me $250-300 to move mine if the movers did not take it.. But my safe is way smaller and again was 16 years ago.

best of luck .. and i too would love to see pics .. at one time i wanted a second safe for the garage but never got one..

maybe use paint and resize the pics to get the file size down ? or upload to photobucket.com and post links

Jim's moving, in Papillion, is the only company I know of in the Omaha area that will move very large and heavy items.  They have been the company that Bass Pro, Cabelas, and others recommend after customer purchase a safe and then realize they can't move it themselves.     They specialize in pianos, safes, and other very heavy items.

Bullit, I would like to get $1500 for it.  I understand it is difficult because the buyer would need a flatbed and a forklift of some sort.  Or would need a moving company to come grab it.  I would like to get rid of it asap.  It is empty and ready to go.  I have all the locksmith paperwork and all that as well.

So, the digital lock doesn't have a backup key? All of my safes with digital locks have a backup key in case the digital lock fails.
