After months of saving and hundreds of hours trolling AR15.com, I finally completed my first build.

Looks good, I'm saving up right now too for my first AR, and I'm thinking of going with a setup pretty much like yours.

Thanks, I think I paid too much for the stripped Lower. I have seen them at gun shows, and now that I have FFL friends I could prolly a quire one for 50.

Don't have a range report yet, but right off the bat it's durable/well mounted. The two problems I see are the rubber lens caps are a ***** to get back on once you pop them off. And since i wear glasses instead of a single read dot I see a whole bunch of red dots.

I'm also interested in how the Matech works out.  When I build mine I've been debating between a Matech or a cut down carry handle sight.

I love the Matech. the only thing I dislike is it only has the small aperture. But the StrikeFire takes care of the short-range engagement distances so it works well. The only thing about the sight was that (like a dumb jar-head) I threw away the manual, so had to figure out how to zero it. It works well if you zero it to be right behind the front-sight post. It makes for quick target acquisition.

What is the elevation adjustment like on the Matech?  How many clicks from lowest to highest elevation?  I'm wondering if it's just one click per 100 yards, or if it's a finer adjustment.

For Elevation There is a 200, 300, 350, 400, 500 and 600 notch.
There are 80 clicks from left to right.

Stick with know names in lowers if one is not a gunsmith or prepared to do some fitting. Basically you get what you pay for. That $100.00 savings can sometimes translate into hours of filing, fitting and rebluing of parts that will drop into a name brand lower.

I recently bought 3 of these "$50.00 lowers" fully prepared to do the work necessary to make them work.
