Looks like they kind of restrict what they consider to be service weapons.  But then again I might be missing something.  I have a .303 that I was like to begin shooting competition with, but it seems that GI won?t allow it.  Is this an NRA rule, or just something from GI?

Any service rifle, foreign or Domestic are welcome on the line at Four Rivers Sportsman"s Club in Hastings. If you have a fancy race gun, bring it along and we will all gather around and watch you shoot.

Race gun?  Like this?

No...Don't think that will work for a service rifle event... ;D

However If you want to shoot it we are developing a event designed around the Ruger Rimfire sponsored shoots. I plan on competing at the regional match in Sept with my dedicated 22lr AR

The way I see it, just a portion of the NRA highpower rules

3.1.1 Service rifle. The application of synthetic coatings, which includes those containing powdered metal. To the interior of the stock to improve bedding is authorized provided the coating does not interfere with the function or operation of safety features.

I really don't see where having a wiz bang, tricked out rifle does any good,if "You can't shoot the gun" you can't hit the target. There are no short cuts to accuracy. A good shooter on a POS rifle will out shoot a wiz bang rifle with a dope behind the trigger any day.  I have been that dope many times :dink:
