Feinstein (amongst others) has introduced a new bill in the Senate to ban more "assault weapons".  They don't even attempt to hide their agenda anymore, since at the very top of this is these words:

to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited

To ensure our rights are not unlimited.  That's literally written at the top of the bill.  It's still in committee - and given that the Senate is in Republican control, there's a chance we can stop it before it goes anywhere - but it's still worth contacting our representatives to ensure they fight to stop this.  And just so everyone knows who to "thank" for this, here's the supporters of the bill:

As for their intent, just read down a little ways:

“(v) (1) It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.

Based on their definition of assault rifle it is anything that isn't single shot. That is a very long list of items and now assault weapon now includes handguns and shotguns.
