Maybe one day it'll happen but I suspect that what we see in Star Trek will become a reality and all will be good (except for hostile aliens like the Borg or Jem'hadar).

When I was a young person the big news was "the Next Ice Age" and "Nuclear Winter" will end all for mankind.
Doom and gloom sells papers, these people always tell the sheeple that they must change, while they fly around in private jets!!
I tell my kids to be skeptical.
