I searched this forum and since most recent discussion found on Omaha is quite old, thought I start a new topic. Am a permit holder from Hastings, will be visiting Omaha for a few days soon. What differences with firearms laws there (if any, as a permit holder) affect me while I'm there?

As far as I know, Omaha is no different than the rest of the State if you hold a valid CHP.
I live west of Omaha and carry there often. When I first got my CHP I had to go downtown to OPD headquarters and register my EDC, they looked it over and made sure it wasn't stolen I guess!
That rule didn't last long. I see less and less "No Handgun signs" so watch for them.
Have fun, Greg

Thanks! It has been a while since I've traveled out there, and with all the chatter I hear regarding a "carve out" for Omaha with LB-733 (I know, unrelated, but it got me thinking...) I thought I'd better make sure there's not something relatively new that I need to be aware of.

If you have a valid CHP, then you have statewide preemption that prevents Omaha from enforcing their registration laws on you.  The "carve out" you mentioned would only apply to those without a valid CHP.
