People With Guns Kill People (2-3-11)

Roger Larsen's Perspective

The tragic events of the last few weeks have brought about more concern about the ownership of certain types of guns.  As usual, most politicians are absolutely afraid to touch the subject, due to the tremendous lobbying and money power of the National Rifle Association.

I don?t understand why we have let the NRA throw the 2nd amendment in our faces every time this subject comes up.  No one has said anything about banning the ownership of guns.  But having some restrictions is no more dangerous to our constitutional rights than forbidding known drunks to drive.  Every right we have is subject to some reasonable restrictions.

Words escape me as to what world Roger Larsen lives in.  He has been spouting his nonsense for years.  For the life of me I cannot understand why a conservative station like KLIN broadcasts his diatribes other than to raise peoples blood pressure.  Coby Mach to his credit always gives a short "rebuttal" on Drive Time Lincoln.

I didn't know what prompted it but I was listening to the many many calls come into DTL last night on my way home.  People were pretty fired up about it.  Coby said "We just ditched the rest of what we were going to talk about and went to the phones for the rest of the show."

Reality's a tough gig for some folk.

His comment, "Can you imagine the gun battle in Tucson if there had been several gun toting citizens at the scene of the shooting?  The death toll would have been much higher."

And maybe the nutcase would have been stopped before he did quite as much damage.  We'll never know.  But I do know that individuals like Roger Larsen apparently cannot and will not admit that adults can, and do, carry lethal weapons responsibly every day and have done so for quite some time in a lot of places.
"It is better to avoid than to run; better to run than to de-escalate; better to de-escalate than to fight; better to fight than to die. The very essence of self-defense is a thin list of things that might get you out alive when you are already screwed." – Rory Miller

Ya see , Roger rarely has any facts...

There were 2 legal CCW's on the scene. I believe one had an AZ permit and one carrying by the new constitutional recognition.

Another fact lost on Roger, a Glock 19 is hardly an assault rifle.

He also is oblivious to recent SCOTUS rulings or to Nebraska's constitution.
