which scope mount for my AR?
« on: January 11, 2009, 11:20:40 AM »
I'm looking for a cantilevered single base for mounting a 1" scope.
So far I kind of like the RRA hi-rise scope mount
http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=385
For right under $50

or...

LaRue Tactical SPR / M4 Scope Mount QD LT-104
http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=30
for around $200

I know the Larue is better, but is it that much better? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Or any other suggestions.

The LaRue is better if you need the quick release feature and highly repeatable return to zero (that they offer better than any other IMHO), But the RRA mount is very good unit for the money, as is the Armalite mount that I chose before the new style RRA was on the market.

Here is a link to very good review of most of the AR15 scope  mounts
