That is a nice gun.  I have a weakness for old military rifles.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

:o......That'd get you some attention at the range!!

I was able to warm up the ex-dragoon a bit yesterday. It took me 20 rounds to rein her in.......the old girl packs a pretty good kick!

Here are the last 5....offhand at 80 yards.....with the bayonet. I'm looking forward to spending more time with her.  :D

I picked one up on Friday. Mine is Ivhevsk armory made in 1942. Overall a nice looking weapon. The shellac on the stock was not done well at all so I am stripping it and doing a tung oil rub.  Maybe I should have shot it before putting all the work into the stock to see if it is one of the bad shooters.
Just an FYI they had one in the rack behind the counter. You have to take a number and when called to the counter ask them if they still have any in the back room.

You and everybody else, it seems!

I stopped by today to get some of the Herter's 7.62x39 ..... all gone.  There were other gaping holes in the stock, too......

Salesguy said they sold more guns on Saturday than they did on Black Friday..... and Black Friday was their previous record.......
The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.

Wow!  Apparently the pawn shops are a lot better up there than around here.

It's really hit & miss......been hittin' lately after a long missin' spell :D This one will be a little work......the bore is NOT bright.
My theory is that after the holidays some maybe are being turned in for cash for paying bills.

I'm not that lucky, I've never ever seen a "bright bore" on a Mosin.
Seen plenty that looked like there was fur growing inside the bore though.   :(

LOL....You can see a wide range of conditions when you look down one of those barrels!

I went up to the gun show in Sioux Falls last weekend & brought  home a Finn M24. This one appears to have a bit of histiory about it! 8)

It's missing a couple minor parts.........I've got something to hunt for now!! :)

Ishevsk, Ishevsk, Ishevsk, Ishevsk, Ishevsk, Ishevsk...It's not so hard.   ;)

Actually, its Izhevsk. The city is named after the river Izh which runs through it.

Hi Fly!

Well, close. But the name is I "z" hevsk, not I "s" hevsk. I can't properly pronounce it with either spelling, so it's all good :)

Which pawn shop did you find that in?  Most of them around here want $200 for a run of the mill Izzy.  The actual gun shops sometimes will have good deals.

Acher is weird.  Most of the time they are way overpriced on their guns, but occasionally they have some good deals on surplus rifles.
