Survival Fiction
« on: December 22, 2011, 08:56:58 AM »
I thought some of you might be interested in a survival fiction blog that I started a couple weeks ago.  The blog is a diary-based account of a Midwestern family's struggle to survive in the wake of a global economic collapse.  In addition to entertaining and egaging fiction, I intersperse survival tips and ideas.

David Johnson, the main character, and his family had prepared themselves for something like this, but there are certain things for which you simply cannot prepare.

I try to post a new chapter every day or two.

The main page is here: http://unioncreekjournal.wordpress.com/

However, I recommend reading the journal entries in chronological order (they're in reverse chronological order on the site).

To read the entries in chronological order, start here: http://unioncreekjournal.wordpress.com/2011/12/07/the-new-normal-november-2-2014/ and then click on the links for each date's entry in the upper, right-hand corner.

No cost or obligation.  If you'd like to receive notifications when new entries are posted, you can sign up and give me your e-mail.  No SPAM, I promise!

Enjoy.

I bookmarked it, but I'm not going to be a fan until I find out how it ends!

So, you're one of those that reads the last page of the book first, huh?

For those that don't have to read the last page first, today's chapter is up: http://unioncreekjournal.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/january-15-2105-qa/

Mud, I finally got a chance to get caught up, it's looking good.

I like the part about the Gunter's rolling up, I found myself trying to read faster than I could comprehend just to know what happened. Had to force myself to slow down.

Need to know what weapons and ammo you got from the old house after taking the Latinos down. I see it as a necessary way to stay armed farther down the road.

Are you saving brass and reloading? Wouldn't take long to run out of things I would think since it sounds like Hernandez has a gang headed your way.

I am enjoying it, keep it up.

Thanks, Dave.  There's a new chapter up this morning: http://unioncreekjournal.wordpress.com/2011/12/27/january-21-2015-storm-clouds/

As for saving brass ... it's of a lower priority than saving a$$ but I agree, it's a priority.

I hope you got a sense of the weapons that the Hernandez gang had - nothing too special ... .38 revolvers and the like.  I know there are a number of writers who run through a complete inventory of what was recovered whenever something like the fight at the abandoned farm house takes place.  I'm not one of them.  :D

Oh, one piece of advice ... read slowly and carefully.  Look for the iceberg below the tip that's easily seen.  There is almost always something going on beneath the surface.  Ask yourself "why" a lot.

Ever hear the story of the Five Monkeys?  If not, check out today's entry in The Union Creek Journal.  It may give you an entirely new perspective on government and elections.

I'm on it.  It's a great read.  I'm wishing Mudinyeri could write a little faster.

No slacking here!  My fingertips caught on fire for a few minutes last night while I was writing.  :D
