ENPS Steel Challenge Scores and Comparisons....
« on: February 19, 2012, 06:53:13 PM »
Periodically, as we shoot Steel Challenge matches, I get asked by various people "What is a good time for this stage?" or some similar variant.

I never really had a good answer.  I knew what won on a local level, but never could really say anything regarding National-level shooting.

So---one day when I was bored, I looked up the results from the last two Steel Challenge Nationals (2010 and 2011).  The great thing here is that those results are from stages designed and laid out exactly like we do it here---so your scores can be compared directly.

Don't be too downhearted if your scores aren't within the top five, by the way. :)

What I did was look up the top 5 scores from each year in each category, and then listed the average, best, and worst score out of that set of 10 scores.

I also listed the World Records for each stage, which I assume are 1) centerfire, not rimfire, and 2) mostly by Open division shooters.   They are a little scary...

Some day when I have time, I'll go back and look up 10th, 20th, 30th, and 40th place times for each of the divisions.  That way, no matter how you shoot, you can have an idea of how you would do if you went to SC Nats.

But of course everyone's scores will be up in the top 5....  :)
