Anyone interested in a CMP rimfire practice session?
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:39:59 PM »
Our first Rimfire Sporter match in Lincoln is about a month away.  I had someone ask me the other day if we ever had practice sessions.  I hadn't thought about it before, but it sounds like a good idea to me.  I was thinking if anyone is interested we could get together on a weekend or maybe in the evening after work for an informal clinic.  This would be something for those who are new to position shooting, so we could cover the standard positions, sling use, etc.  I have a couple rifles if someone needs to borrow one.  This would be out at the Izaak Walton League, so if you're not a member it would cost $10 for a guest pass.

I'm thinking maybe around the end of the month.  I have a new barrel coming for my 10/22 so it's out of action until then.

OK, what do you guys think about doing it the 24th or 25th?  We would have to work around any other shooters since we don't have anything scheduled to reserve the range, but I think we could at least do a little shooting at the 50 yard line and run through the range commands to make sure we have everything squared away.

If anyone is interested I'm thinking of meeting on the 24th, maybe at 1:00?  I need to write up a set of instructions for running the match, so this will give me an opportunity to test them out.

I think I can make that assuming I recover from the plague I have.

You and me both...allergies are killing me, and being hopped up on sudafed doesn't help my shooting.

Yep.  We don't have the range reserved so we will need to work around other shooters.  This really just an informal get together, to work out any kinks and get our rifles sighted in.  I'm wondering if it will be feasible to make sight adjustments between the 50 and 25 yard stages or if I should just hold over.  I want to try it and see if the cheap Simmons scope I bought has repeatable clicks.

And Mike, you don't need practice.  My plan on the other hand is to sear everyone's retinas with my obnoxious yellow rifle.

I hope to make it, but if my special order quartz countertop arrives, I really need to get it installed.

Sounds like your kitchen is a lot more exciting than mine.

Oh it is!  And I am definitely not going to be at the practice, heading to Menard's now

WTH?  Why have I not been privy to this on previous visits?  :'(

I didn't say I wanted to WORK!
Well, wish I coulda been there today, too nice calm day for sighting in a rifle, but the Scout's overnight lock in and work tonight, totally shut me down also.
