2A: US Senate Votes Approval for D.C.
« on: February 26, 2009, 11:11:41 PM »
Today is a bizarre day of gun news.  First the Holder statement, then Pelosi dousing him with cold water (so to speak)....and now the U.S. Senate voting to uphold the second amendment in D.C.  Here's the story on the NRA site:

This one will be interesting to follow as it continues on in the process!

Don't get too excited yet...  It still has to go to the House for their approval. That might be a problem.

Exactly right, huskergun.  That's why I noted in the first post that it will be interesting to follow as it continues on in the process.  Especially since Pelosi yesterday flamed Holder for his comments about bans on assault weapons and cop-killing bullets because Holder and "O" did NOT first bring it to Her Majesty's attention for Her Majesty's blessing.

All the more reason for us to start contacting our Congress representatives from Nebraska to follow through and support what their Senate colleagues approved.  And probably sooner rather than later!

Anyone know how Johanns and Nelson voted yesterday in the Senate vote?  Were they part of the 62 ayes or of the 36 nays?

Thanks Aldo. Pelosi and Reed are liars when it comes to this and in my personal opinion our home page does not note that effectivly. Pelosi is mad because Holder let the cat out of the bag too soon. They are going for the back door aproach rather than an out right ban ...YET.
I called Ben Nelsons office today and congradulated him for his pro Second Amendment stance. I will be calling again on Monday to remind him that any ban is unacceptable and this time We won't sit by and let it happen like during the Clinton years.
Sent my email to Holders office also. I'm expecting his hinchman at my door anytime...LOL
 More to come....

There are much better historians here than me, but if I do recollect correctly, dictatorships tend to disarm the folks...Nazi Germany is a prime example...collect/confiscate the weapons, and the opposition only has maybe a stick of butter to use for self-defense.

The Dems know that they took it up the bakukus in the past when there was an attempt at gun control, and so, I agree, they prefer not to make it so outright as Holder presented it.  After all, Holder is not elected and unless he does something really, really bogus like streak naked down Transylvania Avenue, he's in place until at least 2012, whereas Reid and other Dems (and RINOs) come up in 2010.

Having said that, many of the lib Dems would prefer to take the back door approach...and we've had other entries on threads whether they are about serialization of bullets or ammo taxes or whatever it will take to make it very, very costly to even target practice or shoot Rock Your Glock or whatever else.

Thank God for NFOA and its Board and members.  Yes, we need to keep the pressure on with contacts, contacts, contacts....be they e-mails, letters, calls, personal visits, or even those airplane signs!  We may even have to take to the streets...peacefully, of course.

Ok, thanks for listening....now I feel better...for a few minutes.
