So a certain someone I know with an addiction to old single shot rifles found a good deal on an old Stevens Favorite receiver on Gunbroker. This unnamed person may just have also found most of the internal parts on Ebay to complete the receiver. So now it's waiting on a barrel (and Numrich just happens to carry NOS Stevens barrels) and a stock.
I am this guy is thinking of buying a nice stock blank and carving one from scratch, since the old Favorite stocks tend to be pretty simple. Anyone here have experience doing this? I assume I could use a bandsaw to cut out the rough profile, and then a power sander to rough it out. There isn't much inletting for the buttstock, really just the tang. The forend will need a little more inletting for the barrel.
