Losing the CLEO signature
« on: June 08, 2012, 05:32:52 PM »
Talked with the gentlemen that runs American Reaper Arms in Columbus today and in the conversation he mentioned that the signature requirement is going to be dropped this year. I heard buzz about this early this year but wasn't sure its true, but after hearing it from a dealer I got excited. Too bad I will be leaving the only county in the state that has problems with the signature by the time it is dropped.  He also said the amount of people processing the requests has more than doubled from 10 in the nation to 22, hopefully that shortens up the wait time since he said it's running about 8 months.

The CLEO is going away, just waiting for new forms from BATFE not holding breath for this year though. I have customers waiting on form 4 approval since August, they have hired assistants to the examiners but I suspect hiring more govment people to touch your paperwork is going to slow things down rather than speed them up.

Interesting, so will there be some sort of notification to your local CLEO, like on the Curio and Relic form? No signoff required, just that you have to send a copy of the application for their information.

That's my understanding of how it will work.

Guess I'll wait a bit before looking into this stuff more.  Maybe ?  I dunno.

There's something I wanna build, but the hassle seems a bit extreme :(
