Kroil???

Trying to buy some Kroil locally. Any ideas where to buy some in the Omaha area?

Never seen it locally, but Parts Blaster works wonders on frozen/rusted threads.

I've got a full untouched spray can of Kroil that you can have for free.   [Located in Omaha.]

Kroil had a 2-fer-1 deal.   I've barely used any of the first can.   A little goes a looooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnggg way.

Please note that Kroil doesn't remove lead for me the same way it does for all those other master shooters who write those glowing testimonials on the web.

Certainly worth a try.

Provided that it can actually be found anywhere.   Haven't bought any in years.   Used it in the past for cleaning paint brushes; have since converted to petrol mineral spirits.

Bore leading is generally no big deal, given enough cycles on the brass brush.

However, external surface lead is really tough to remove from my S&W Model 19.   Got some on barrel at the muzzle.   Some on front end of cylinder.   I've since switched from bare lead wadcutters to Berrysbullets plated wadcutters.

So far, the only solvent I've found that halfway works for lead removal is hydrogen peroxide/vinegar, 50-50.   However, it also does a nice job of removing bluing from handguns.

I'll try turpentine and let you know.

I have bought turpentine at Home Despot.  Next to the mineral spirits, paint thinner, etc.

I've never tried turpentine on a revolver cylinder face,but it pulls the lead out of a barrel like nobodys business! ---Mike.

If it doesn't work on a revolver cylinder face, we can try it on a cat's rear end.   I've heard it works quite well there.   Kind of an accelerant.
