I hadn't talked to Dan Shepherd of Shepherd Scopes for a good while. Thought it might be time to get in touch, go out to his shop in Waterloo, NE just to see what's up. See what kind of Hot New Project he's working on; he's always working on something. Called him today; lady answered. Asked to speak to Dan. "He's gone; died May 1st," the lady, his daughter, said.
Dan was the lone pioneer of his very unique One-Shot Zero sight-in system, where the rangefinder screen moves to cover the hole in the target, thereby zeroing the scope. Coupled with his ranging system, it worked pretty well.
He told me once that the whole idea came to him one night in a dream.
Sweet Dreams, Dan.
