I Am So Weak

You guys win.

Bought a gen4 G19 this AM.   I have succumbed.  Tennifer sliding on Kydex creates mind altering fumes I'm told.  :)

:)  Yeah, like that's going to happen.  :)  I'll be buried with that thing.

Heh.  PEER PRESSURE WORKS!

or

Archangel is slightly more comfortable.  Shaggy tucks the butt in to your body more.  Archangel can be taken off without removing the belt.

Going to put the medium backstrap on it?  The large backstrap?  Or stay with no backstrap?  (I'm betting that you will find the medium or large backstrap the most comfortable.)

Also---minus connectors are your friends, especially with Gen 4 Glocks.  :)  (No, it doesn't make the gun unsafe for concealed carry.  With the Gen 4s, it brings the trigger down to the 4.5 pound-ish range.)

I've got a Shaggy on order as we speak.  I ordered it with the snaps but ordered a Kydex loop as well.  I splurged and got the leather "comfort backing" on it.  Given the difficulty getting the CCC stuff, when I saw it was available with only 5 left, I jumped on it.

We'll see how it works out.

Not quite sure about the backstrap right now.  It's not that bad as is.

I may have to look into the "-" connector.  It's not all that bad right now but dropping a pound wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

First order of business: SIGHTS!  I hear lots of talk about the Ameriglo's.

Gosh, I only wish there were a Glock Armorer type guy around here.  :)

Yeah, we don't know any of those...

(You'll like the minus connector much more.  And it is still Glock OEM---doesn't change the reliability at all.)

As for the backstrap---I was just remembering that your hands were plenty larger than mine, and I think the no-backstrap version is about as small as I'd like to go, myself.   On my G17s and G34s, it actually took a little getting used to since it was so much smaller than my old G34s  (Gen 3).  At least try out the medium backstrap, if you haven't yet.  Just to check...

First order of business: SIGHTS!  I hear lots of talk about the Ameriglo's.

I missed this on the first read-through.

I'm partial to Warren Tactical, myself.  (And I like their "i" night sights, too, though I don't currently have any.)  Lots of people seem to like the Ameriglo, true.  I must admit, though, every time I see a set it hurts my eyes.  Too much stuff out there.  :)

For me personally (so feel free to ignore) on a non-night-sights gun, I prefer a fiber optic on the front (yes, even for carry guns) and an all-black rear sight.  For night sights I much prefer the bar-dot types instead of the three-dot types.  (I like there to be a significant difference between the front view and the back view, and yes I know they often come in different colors or brightnesses, but I still don't like 3-dot night sights.)

With the Warren Tactical sights, even if you break the front fiber optic, the sight itself still has a nice dark outline, including a solid top edge---so it works perfectly well as a front sight if the fiber falls out.

Other people like the Heinie's (I note Julie started with those, and later changed over to Warren Tacticals) and lots of people love those multicolored glowing Ameriglos.

Weirdos.  :)

I grow less enamored with tritium sights all the time.  I like fiber optics.

I want a set with a nice ledge on the rear sight for one handed racking activities.

If I could just drop my .02
As for sights: http://www.redbackone.com/#!proshop
I realize they say they are sold out they've been sold out for months but I had a source tell me they are on there way in (a week or two max and they should have them).

Also, not sure if you already bought your holster but CompTac MTAC is what I use and have no complaints. I reccomend them to everyone.

Lastly, I put the 3.5 connectors in all my Glocks. In fact I usually have one on hand prior to buying a new Glock. Like said above its more like 4.5, and not the 3.5 advertised.  An added plus is, its a little bit crisper on the break. Not much but a little.

Keep us posted!

We are very proud of you Tim!!!!!

On the connector:

Gen4 Glocks now come with a "dot connector", because the standard 5.5 connector was a little too heavy in the Gen4 guns. I am told by a friend in Smyrna that the angle of the "Dot" connector is darn near the same as the "minus" connector... I'm not sure there will be a ton of difference in the Gen4.

So yes, to those Gen3 owners wondering.....  if you put a DOT connector in a Gen3 gun, you are pretty close to a minus connector

Glock will not sell the dot connectors either.

On the Night sights: Having Trijicons on my carry gun (I don't know why), i can assure you when a knife wielding attacker comes running at you in the dark parking garage trying to stab you........ You won't see the glowing little dots

I'm finding that night sights' best use is finding the firearm in the dark.  Otherwise, they're a poor substitute for a good light.

I see that Hilton Yam at 10-8 Performance has all kinds of sights for Glocks.  I have one of his rear sights on one of my 1911's and I love it.  Great sight picture.  He also offers a brass bead front sight.  I'd rather it be gold, but brass is acceptable.

The as-issued trigger is entirely usable but I really have to work on pulling it straight back.  (but that's true of any trigger.)  I wouldn't mind a tad lighter trigger but I like the idea of sticking with factory parts.  The only time I've seen Glocks break down (other than really poor maintenance) is due to 3rd party parts in them.   Reliability is paramount here.

Thanks for the feedback Chris.

As noted above, I'm a fan of 10-8 stuff.  Their sights are made of real steel for one thing.

I've already ordered the Shaggy from CCC.  They have a great rep.  Hopefully it works.

Thanks!

Sights:

With my recent G17 G4 purchase, I was torn between night sights or FO sights.. I ended up getting BOTH.

Tru glo TFO sights. They are fiber optic sights with tritium behind them. I haven't received them yet, but I am excited to try them out.

For sure!  I do not ever disagree with red heads, especially when they are within Tueller Range.  :)
