I had resubmit my application from anew.  Whats the current wait time?

Interestingly they cashed my check within 2 days of my application which had me worried.   I might be confused with the e-forms/form 1 process.  Usually they cash the check or charge the card once they are processing it and near completion.

My wife just turned her paper work in yesterday at the Troop B office. The lady taking her paper work said, it could take up to 4 months to receive her permit.

That's interesting.  I wonder how she determined 4 months.  They have 45 days by statute.  If she gets to 45 days and still doesn't have it let us know and we'll let you know who to call and how to handle it.

I'm hoping she mean to say 4 "weeks", not 4 "months".  I just completed my CHP training on Sat, 4/16 and called first thing Monday for an appt at the Lincoln CID.  Soonest they could get me in was May 5th.  Ugh.

In my opinion this whole "by appointment only" crap is just a way to skirt the statutory 45 days to issue written into the law

My wife had to wait for two weeks to get her appointment in Norfolk. The lady at the desk might have told me a little more than she should have. I mentioned that there must be a huge amount of people getting CCW's these days with a 2 week wait. She said they only schedule a few a day. Now how many is a few? My wife went early and didn't wait. When we left  the lady doing the paper work said she was done for the day. That was 3:00.

Now, maybe they only do CCW apps on certain days.

 before i waited 2 weeks i would drive to omaha or another office to get my permit done with no apt:

i think dan is correct it's all smoke and mirrors to make people jump thru hoops ..
by the way they act you would think with out an apt they would have a line out the door and down the block ... lol ... when in reality they only do a few per day it takes longer to clean the glass on the scanner then it does to take the finger prints ... you give each finger , both hands as a whole and the blade edge of both palms this does not take that long

It has been 6 weeks for me since I visited Omaha's NSP office. Still waiting for my "CHP" .. since NE does not issue a "CCW"

Ya, I understand the CHP and CCW thing and what it stand for. It has probably been discussed before.

I wonder why the State Patrol website doesn't list CHP but does have CCW listed several times. They say concealed handgun permit on forms but never use CHP. At least doing a search on the website doesn't bring up CHP.

Imagine my wonder (ahh moment) when I found that out.

So, if I am in NE and just happen to have a knife (Gerber included) in my pocket, the LEO can (at his judgement) decide if that is considered a concealed weapon. If so, then I lose my Permit to Carry a Handgun card - forever. :(

Any other state clearly list CCW: and then name off items you can carry legally (eg. knife, firearm, baton, etc.). I think this may be one of the reasons NE fails to reciprocate with other states -- which may have changed recently, though with updates that Iowa has provided to their training courses.

anyone else have inputs?

Make sure the knife isn't longer than 3 1/2 inches, or clip it to your pocket so it isn't concealed.

no paperwork, no card, not even a phone call.

Guess I should try to call Lincoln and see if there is an issue.

Just called Lincoln.
It was issued on 6 MAY 2016.
It will be mailed out today .. I should get it this week.
Ms Pam was awesome and provided me with my permit number in the meantime.

So about Mar 10 is your app date?  I was mar 23 so I should be up soon.

49 calendar days
35 duty days ..

:) .. I should get it TUE or WED this week.

Heck I was able to get my Stag Arms in 15 seconds years ago .. I just thought it was funny to wait so long, but understand that it was a very busy time for the State Patrol. Other states complete the task at local Sheriff Departments, so you generally obtain the ID right then and there.

Sucks to be a civilian sometimes I suppose :)
