Rip offs
« on: February 16, 2013, 05:26:02 PM »
Went to Fremont's gun show, looked to be an excellent turnout.  Ammo prices seem more reasonable than they were in Lincoln.

Stopped in Arms and Ammo and was shocked by the prices on some items.
Glock standard magazines $99.96 :o
Remington 115 grn RN bullets for reloading $39.96 :o
To this cat, that is a blatant rip off >:D

I was looking for 9MM hollow point so I stopped by Arms and Ammo on the way out of town.  They didn't have any hollow point but they had Winchester white box 9 MM 115 grain for a buck a round ($100 for 100 round box).  I guess the point is they had supply, but I walked out and will never go there again.

Hmmm... seems their prices have about only doubled.   ::)

If they only doubled, they'd be in line with everybody else.  Charging 4 times what a WWB costs at Walmart (when available) goes beyond chapping my ass...

Yea I really don't understand why they are charging what they are. Most of their magazines that hold 15 or more rounds are $100. They do have a lot of stuff. I asked them if the price on their $90/1000 primers was negotiable. They said no.

Yesterday GU in Omaha had 9MM for $19.99 or $24.99 / 50 depending on brand. There wasn't a lot of it, just a couple cases.

How about .22lr 525ct for $50 at the show or the wore out rattle can paint job DPMS A2 for $1500. Made the new DPMS M4 for $1999 seem like a bargain.

I don't plan on going to any shows until the panic subsides.

Another point of view, I had a great time at the Fremont gun show.  I found two S&W 39 mags for 55 bucks total, including tax.   They are going for 70 plus each on eBay.

Also, it is just fun looking at what is going on in the industry.   Somehow I missed a back room with more tables.  I hate it when I do that!  lol

The Abate show was also last weekend, do you expect to ride out on a motorcycle when you go to that?

If you take a gun show for what it is, a show, it is fun to go to.  I try to buy something to make it worth while, and I usually do.

A couple weeks back, some guy had used 33 round Glock mags at the Beatrice show for $25 each, and he had a dozen or more.  So deals are out there, if you look.

I was at Acher's this morning.   They are not going to handle reloading supplies any more.  They do not have primers or bullets, and very little powder left.    They did have some 9X19 ammo, and some .22LR ammo, at $9.99 for a box of 50 bullets.

Damn, that is obscene..........    I can remember pooling our change after school and getting $2.00 together for 2 boxes of 50 and 2 sodas !!!!

A couple months ago I noticed  that the box of .22LR that had been  wrapped up with my .22 Ruger Luger semi-auto pistol had a price of $1.50 on it.  It was purchased in 1980.    When I was younger I bought 10 boxes of 50 (500 total) for about $8-$10 for the 500.
