It reminds me of a video I saw during Gulf War II when a Marine division approached Baghdad from the South. A 10,000 man elite Republican Guard unit rolled out to meet them. As the RG approached the Marines split into two groups and one went on the East side and one on the West side, getting the RG in a pincer movement. The weapon which did most of the damage was a 1.25" air-burst shell that exploded in the air 10 to 20 feet above the RG units. They were in trenches, behind berms, trenches, tanks and light armor. Didn't matter. Reports said that in a stretch of about 1 1/2 miles long an a quarter mile wide the bodies were close enough one could walk from one end to the other, or across, without stepping onto the sand.
Putting that weapon into the hands of soldiers on the ground will make it nearly impossible for enemy combatants to hide in trenches or behind walls, or in rooms with open windows. They will have to stay more than 250 yards away to stay alive. It will eliminate threats from rag-tag rebels, like those fighting the Syrian army. That will leave only snipers and longer range weapons, which most rag-tag fighters do not have. Neither do American citizens, CCW or not.
