Please let me make a supporting point for GU pricing practices.
Here's just one example:
Lawrence magnum shot at GU is $41+/25# bag. Same shot at Cabelas, just five minutes away, is $49/bag. Pretty significant difference.
Tom Nichols, GU owner, is trying to stay commercially alive while surrounded by the Big Boxes: Cabelas, Scheels, Bass Pro Shop. I've pointed out local higher pricing differentials to him because he has always treated me very well. He grins his affable grin and says that he has to stay competitive around all these Big Fellows to draw folks back to his store.
Now.....I don't doubt for a Noo Yawk Minnit that maybe something at GU can be found at a higher retail price than the Competition, but in general I've found GU prices to be fair and competitive under current circumstances. [Not too long ago GU was selling very good quality Peruvian Magnum shot at around $30/25# bag while they had it. All gone now.]
I would certainly agree that shooting sports prices are generally outrageous at the present time, but that's what happens when demand outstrips supply. And other hobby-pastimes just aren't as much fun as Pull Trigger - Go Bang!!
