Adco will add a threaded extension to a pistol barrel

How do they do that without damaging the crown?

They turn down and thread the outside, and make a custom extension that fits closely enough that it looks like factory.  It's pretty slick.

How about when you need to maintain situational awareness, or don't have time to don hearing protection, as in a home defense scenario? I want suppressors on the firearms I will defend my family with because I don't want to damage my hearing or my family's hearing when I shoot an intruder. Also, softening the muzzle blast a bit and diminishing the flash is going to help me avoid the otherwise disorienting effects of shooting a firearm in an enclosed space.

This has actually been a concern of mine in my apartment.

I live in an old brick building that was cut in half and the other half moved a couple blocks away...

Anyhoo, most of my walls are either concrete or cinder block.

A 10ga or 12ga magnum shell discharge in the house would be outright painful for everyone involved, let alone the poor bastard that got hit by it.

hoppe's #9 is not the end all be all woman catching pheramone people make it out to be ... cause i smell of it 2 or 3 times a week but remain single  >:D

Bkoenig understood what I was talking about. It's how I got my Five-seveN threaded.

Here you go:  http://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/shop_qnew.cfm?code=Handgun%20Barrel%20Threading

Considering the following photo:

I'm wondering if they extend the rifling into the extension or leave it smooth bore?

It's left smooth, but it's a larger diameter than the bore so the bullet doesn't contact it.
