"Thomas Dart, sheriff of Illinois's Cook County, which encompasses Chicago, said that although the effect on crime is disputed, more people carrying guns "makes our job more difficult."
"Without the gun, it's a fistfight. With the gun, it's a shooting," he said."

Uhhh yeah because the news reports talk of a record number of people killed from illegally concealed fists...
"Well-regulated" meant well equipped, trained and disciplined... not controlled with an iron fist.

It brings to mind the question of exactly WHAT "their job" is?   The SCOTUS has already ruled that they have NO obligation to protect any particular person EVEN IF THEY KNOW that that person is under imminent threat of death!  And, when seconds count they are minutes away.  So, they carry weapons just to protect themselves (and I don't blame them) and they collect information after the fact.   The purpose of a concealed weapon is to make sure that the questions they are asking are about the perp, and not you.

It's also worth noting that this guy is NOT speaking from experience... Illinois still doesn't have a legal means to carry concealed, not yet anyways, so every concealed gun in Chicago is illegal right now... Therefore, he has NEVER dealt with a lawfully carrying citizen who is trained on what to do when the policie show up, so how would he know it would "make their job more difficult?"

I'm also pretty sure that illegal carrying folks probably aren't out for just a friendly neighborhood stroll...
