Nebraska State Patrol, Troop C, Grand Island, Nebraska
« on: August 21, 2013, 04:33:05 PM »
Renewed my CHP today.  The folks at Troop C were very accommodating, polite and friendly completing the process.  i did have my paper work, IDs and etc. in  order.

Can't thank these people enough.

Was told my new permit would be back in 7-10 working days. I can deal
with that.

Having not reached the renewal stage yet, what is the process to Carry between licenses?  Do you keep your current card while awaiting the new one or do they take it - destroy it and give you a 'temporary' ID?

You need to renew before your permit expires or you will be considered as never having had one. And retake a training class and pay $100.00 for the permit!
They are required to reissue your permit in 5 working days when you renew. Took mine 9 days but that included a weekend, mailing time and I figured that my application was sent in the day after I went to Norfolk as I had an afternoon appointment.
You can renew up to 4 months in advance also.

You do not need to return your old permit, when you receive your new  one.
You can do whatever you want with it but they recommend destroying it.
