Congratulations To The State Patrol
« on: July 25, 2014, 06:26:56 PM »
Today, the 55th graduating class of recruits were accepted into service.

It is a hard, long, dangerous job they have accepted.   I wish them well, and I hope they are only issued warning ticket books.  Lol.

One More NE State Patrol Item:

By now, all NE Concealed Handgun Permit Instructors have heard that (a) Sgt. Craig A. Loveless is now Lieutenant Loveless and (b) we won't be working with him anymore; we'll be working with a cadre of NSP officers to process our CHP reports.

It'll be interesting to work thru the transition with that particular development.

And I'll never know how Sgt. Loveless did it.   Three full-time jobs:

>Teaching Tactics to the NSP Troopers at the Academy,
>Leading the NSP SWAT Unit, and
>Leading the CHP Program.

A wonder how he ever did it all.

The Nebraska State Patrol as a whole are some of the nicest people, both on and off the job.  In my 59 years in Nebraska I have only met 2 complete a-holes.  Not that I have a lot of interaction with them in the course of their jobs.  I have known many personally over the years through my job and only have rare occasion to interact with them on a "official" level so to speak.  :D

Were we supposed to get an email about this?  Or a letter?  Because neither I nor my wife (and we are both instructors, separately) have gotten any information about this at all, in any official fashion.

I'd heard it, but it doesn't seem to appear on the NSP website anywhere.

I got an email on July 23rd in response to an update that I sent him regarding a class.  I directly asked about the change since I saw it here from Gary the other day, but hadn't seen anything from him.  If you haven't gotten the email yet let me know and I'll forward it to you as it has the new email contact info.

Craig sent me an email saying he had a new job, and to send future correspondence to this new email.

I suggest anyone out of the loop, get up to speed by contacting the NSP. (308) 385-6000

Craig is a super nice guy. I helped at a class he took (story for another time) and he is top shelf.

I do think the NSP kept him too busy, and I wish him good fortune, and less hours at his new assignment.

Here's what I received by email:

==========================================================================

CCW Instructor,

I have transferred and no longer handle the CCW Instructors for the State Patrol.  Several Troopers have been assigned to handle the CCW instructors, so a generic email address was created.   Please use the following email address for all notifications, changes, questions etc…

nsp.ccwinstructorinfo@nebraska.gov

Please remember that all notifications for upcoming classes must be a minimum of 10 [days] prior and contain the following information;

Class Date, Start Time and Physical Address

Range Date, Start Time and Physical Address

Class rosters must contain the information as required by Section 25 of the Rules and Regulations and must be submitted within 15 after the conclusion of the class.

I want to thank all of you for helping me during my time working with the program and all that you do to see that the citizens of Nebraska receive excellent training.

Lieutenant Craig A Loveless #172
Nebraska State Patrol – Troop A

I had not received this email either.   I am very happy for him.   He said something a couple weeks ago about a change but did not elaborate.

Thanks to Dave for sending me a copy of the email, and to the other folks here who posted it.  Never got any mention of it at all, to either myself or Julie.  [sigh]    This doesn't surprise me, because they actually misfiled our application for 9 months or so (I have that in writing from NSP) which is why it took so long for us to get certified, even though I wrote several followup emails during that time.  We were not pleased about it.

Most NSP people I've had dealings with were professional, decent people, so the above isn't a dig at NSP.  It just doesn't surprise me that paperwork-wise, they haven't contacted everyone they should contact about this.

I'm thinking Loveless is going to be a LOT happier in his new role, because they really did have him doing way too much, with not enough support.

That has not been confirmed...
