I have a xr650 l and love it. I won`t ride with out a helmet and face shield. I caught one of those big yellow and black killer bees on the forehead back when I was 16, I was on my old sl 350 on the south river road. Man that hurt.

I've been looking for another Honda XL350R or XL600R for about 4 years now.  I've missed out on 3 of them since last fall.  If someone knows of a decent one for sale, please let me know.

Riding with a helmet is like having sex wearing a condom, safer but doesn't feel as good.

I'm an EMT-B and the wife is the state trauma coordinator, go figure.  I'll wear the brain bucket, if nothing else, OPEN CASKET!
Here's a pic of my 1981 KZ 550 (9200 miles) and this is the basement by the way.  No way the wife would let me park it on the wood floors upstairs...

If any of you saw a ratty flat black 75 Harley on the side of the road today with a goofy looking guy leaning over it scratching his head and mumbling profanities to himself, that was me.  >:(

Why the extra rugs under the bike?  It's not like it is a Harley or anything.   ;D

BTW, that is one of the sweetest looking KZ's that I've seen in quite a while.  I've had a few, none even close to being that nice.

Just insurance to have a rug under it.  It is 28-years old. I'd hate for a seal to go bad over the winter.  We're getting new carpet this summer along with a basement remodel.  You can bet my parking pass will be revoked.

Sounds like when remodeling, you need to make a guns-ammo-preps-KZ storage-man room.

Just sayin'....  ;)

Just a note to say hello. Long time rider and shooter. I have been riding Moto Guzzi bikes for over fourty years. Shooting longer than that. I presently have three Guzzis in the shed and ride daily. Dont get me wrong. I have never seen a motocycle or scooter that I didnt want to own for one reason or another and appreciate the qualities and pride of ownership those of you who ride other brands have. I have just plain been cycle crazy almost all of my life. Started out riding Kowasakis and BMW but the first Guzzi put the hook in me for life. The only other addiction that has come close is firearms.

Well, I finally found an enduro.  1989 Kawasaki KLR650 with about 17,200 miles.  Not great shape, but not beat to death either.  Not sure if I'll keep the stock paint job or go "camo crazy" on it.  I'll have to do a little work to it before I call it "road-worthy", but not a whole lot.  Not too bad for $700.

Now, who wants to buy some rifles and shotguns?  ;)

I'll probably ride it as-is for now, may make any paint job a winter project.

Oddly enough, my first post here is not about firearms, but motorcycles.  Weird.  I have two bikes, a 1979 Suzuki GS 750 and a 1978 Suzuki GS 750 that is a sort of on again, off again "turn it into a sort of cafe racer style" project bike.

As for helmets, do whatever you want (IMO) but I'm going to keep wearing a full face all the time.  Even when over in Iowa.  My face is too pretty to mess up.  At least that's what I tell the wife.  Not sure if she agrees or not.

Still lookin to by my first!, Then look out!
Also, are any of you riders member of the Patriot Guard? Seems like a great group of folks and a great cause.

I bought a Harley Heritage Softail Classic last week, Now have about 450 miles on it. The last time I rode was 37 years ago, and a much smaller bike. That said, I am taking it easy and relearning what I need to be able to do to stay alive. I took the Safety Council's Basic Rider Course earlier this month and it was a big help ing getting my bearings.

The Patriot Guard website is off line at the present time. I was contacted by a rider to inform me of a street naming ceremony this coming Sunday to honor a fallen Army CWO whose chopper was shot down a few years ago. Info is:
Time:  2:00 p.m.
When: May 30, 2010
Where: Saint Roberts Catholic Church
              120th Pacific, N.E. corner

The PGR is looking for as many folks as possible to honor this soldier. Not necessary to be a PGR member.

I ride a 1995 KZ1000P which is a Full dressed Police model.
I just returned from a long weekend trip with a few buddies, to Truman Res. Warsaw MO. and I definately have a sore rump to show for it.
My friends all ride HD, so my wife said it was 3 Hogs and a Kaw.
We had great weather and a great time boatin, eatin, and drinkin.
Before any one says it, I never drink while riding, or ride after drinking. But I do usually carry concealed on the bike, I left it home cause I didn't think I could go thru IA with my weapon yet..

You are right about Iowa until Jan 2011.

I lived on a Goldwing back in the 70's. My wife and I honeymooned in the Rockies on it in 1980. Not so much anymore, but I do really miss riding in the mountains
