What do You Carry?
« on: November 27, 2011, 09:02:26 PM »
I'm sure it's been asked before but I looked around and didn't locate anything right out of the gate. I wasn't worried though, because I know we all love these kinds of threads; they give us a chance to brag on our gear and talk "shop" about pros and cons of these things.

So what do you carry, what do you carry it in and what do you like / dislike about your current rig?

I carry a Glock 21 in a Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster. I love it, but it's a bit big. I'm looking at picking up a compact 1911.

I carry a Beretta 92FS in a Comp-Tac kydex IWB.

I'm a big guy, so the size isn't really an issue. My hands fit well around the fat grip. It is very heavy, especially with two spare 15 round mags, but I don't mind that at all. Its DA/SA trigger works well for me.

Spare magazines are super inexpensive, but are built well. I can typically find brand new military surplus on Gunbroker for $10 per mag.

Mine has been very reliable, accurate, and runs whatever ammo I buy or reload.

Cabela's, Sheels, and wherever seem to sell them new pretty regularly for $560.

Full size Beretta PX4 in 9mm with Federal HST 147gr bullets.  The holster is either a DeSantis speed scabbard or more commonly in a KHolster.  I like the IWB Kholster better just because I don't have to worry about the bottom of the holster poking out from underneath my cover.  Bad part about the IWB holster is that I have to buy my pants/shorts one size too big.

I would say 90% of the time I carry a Springfield XD 40 subcompact in a pancake holster made by me, and the other 10% of the time I carry a Springfield EMP 9mm in a Avenger style holster I made.  On days I need to tuck the shirt in I carry a Tucker Gunleather "Answer".  I own one for each of those guns.

It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

I carry a Glock 21 in a Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster. I love it, but it's a bit big. I'm looking at picking up a compact 1911.

My primary carry piece is a S&W 638 (.38 special J-frame revolver with a shrouded hammer). If I am in summer clothes I might step down to a Kel-Tec P3AT. If it is cold out, I sometimes step up to a SigPro 2340 or S&W SW99.

Most of my holsters for concealed carry are Don Hume IWB holsters. I also have an ankle rig for the 638 but pretty much the only time I've made use of that was while bar-hopping in New Orleans when I knew I was going to be doing a lot of sitting down and standing up (I know, asking for it...).

I rotate between a Tweeked Glock 26 or a stock Taurus PT140, carry both in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard or in colder weather I do carry a Tweeked Glock 21sf in a DeSantis holster. Sometimes I have a Taurus 738 in my pocket just for ballance.

My Glock 30 is either in a Versa Max II or hand carried in a SafePacker.

I got my new Bianchi Evader in the mail today and so far I really like it. It holds the Glock right up against my side very well and keeps the pointy parts from being too apparent. It also has the trigger guard lock to keep it snugged in there securely and keep me from worrying too much about losing the piece.

Also got a new Bianchi belt. I've been needing a new belt for a while and I figured that while I was ordering a holster, I may as well order the belt too. It definitely needs some break-in though... :(

1911 in a Sparks VMII.  Sparks sharkskin belt when I'm feelin' fancy.  Wilderness Instructor's belt for the other times.

I am also a fan of the XD40sc, and have in the past carried it in an Uncle Mikes IWB, but now am using one of Sparky's pancake holsters and REALLY like it.  That XD eats anything I put in it, and is as accurate as the day is long.

Occasionally I also carry my Walther PK380 in the Uncle Mikes, it seems to fit most every gun I have, even my Ruger P90DC .45acp.
