My math says that would be a nickel a round.   .20 x 1400 = $280     But then I never did understand the new math...

You're right :(

It's not new math ... it's an old brain.   Sad.  I mentally divided 1400 by 70, instead  of 700 by 1400.  Too quick on  the draw...  Sigh....  (Now you know why I retired.)

Actually it's nice to know I have company in that regard.

I hit Wal Mary 27th street Lincoln today 8am thinking they would have two days worth of ammo this morning, as they had inventory yesterday, and did not stock yesterday.

Fail

Only put a few boxes of 20ga and 12ga shotgun shells.  I grabbed three boxes to make it worth my while.

I called Scheels at 10:21 to ask them to hold a bucket for me.  No Problem, they told me.  I get there and they were gone before the girl could go pull it from the shelf.

Actually, I'm worse  than  I realized.  I forgot to mention that they had 7 boxes of 1,000 rds of 556 ammo on the shelf, for $500 each.   That was at 10AM..  Don't know if any is left now, at 1:34PM.

That and the 8 bricks of CCI large rifle primers marked at $30.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

Bet the .22 at Scheels was gone by 10:03

I would have driven over, but I did not read the post until 10:30.

I do not need ammo, but I feel like a squirrel in the fall, before a long cold winter.   When it presents itself, I buy it and hope I never need it.

As a kid, I would scrape together a couple bucks, and get a brick of ammo, I never remember any stores ever being sold out, and the cost was high at $5.00.  I think I usually paid about $3.50 a brick.

A buddy and I would shoot every can, stick, twig, we could take aim at, in a couple shooting holes we knew about.

I hope those times come back again for the kids of this great land.

Walmart had two boxes of .40 in 250 packs for $87 each this week.   Could not resist.  Now I need a handgun in .40.  lol

Just left south Lincoln Walmart.  They have cases and cases is Tula .223.  They are letting people buy 3 cases at a time.  All .22, 9mm, 40, and 45 sold.  Don't know if anyone needs.  There were no lines when I just left. Hope this helps someone .

"Cases" or boxes ????  Big difference for me to drive for 60 rounds if boxes....

As in cases, 500/case, 3 cases equals 1500 rds,  they did not offer the same deal for the other calibers

Gonzo,

I might have been in line with you. I was wearing an olive jacket and blue jeans. Short guy, slimmer build with short brown hair.

do you have some special agreement with the Lincoln walmart?  I've never seen them sell cases before, or did they just ring them up as the boxes inside the case box?

No special deal, surprised me as well.  There was just a lot there,  some guys took 3 cases, some took a box of 45, a box of 40 and a case of .223.   Cases were more than $140

So we don't know the actual price?  Just that it was more than $140?

As a member of an Oklahoma FB group, WM seems to have received NUMEROUS cases/SPAM cans of Tula 500 rounds and selling in the $140-150 price range.  There are a couple of WMs in OK that have the same deal going on....3 cases to the buyer.  That essentially pencils out to 30 cents/round or $6.00/20 which is pretty darn cheap these days and a little less than double this time last year.
