Transfer of a pistol to a step-parent?

Regarding whether or not. Relative needs a purchase permit...

I know the state statute says that transfer of. A firearm to a close relative, including a 'parent' does not require that transferee to have a purchase permit...I am wondering, if anyone knows, if a step-parent is the same as a parent for that purpose?

Also, anyone had the experience of a non-chp holder registering the gun with OPD when they have no purchase permit?

(2) The certificate shall not be required if:
(a) The person acquiring the handgun is a licensed firearms dealer under federal law;
(b) The handgun is an antique handgun;
(c) The person acquiring the handgun is authorized to do so on behalf of a law enforcement agency;
(d) The transfer is a temporary transfer of a handgun and the transferee remains (i) in the line of sight of the transferor or (ii) within the premises of an established shooting facility;
(e) The transfer is between a person and his or her spouse, sibling, parent, child, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or grandparent;

I read that as a step-parent needs a permit... but I'm no lawyer

Have them go get a permit

It takes $5 and about 20 Min's total if they are not real busy
plus the person appling has nothing in their past that
would be a problem with obtaining one.

and it's good for 3 years (as long as they are good)  ;D
