Collegiate Shooting Opportunity
« on: February 19, 2013, 10:03:35 AM »
I just thought I would share this info for anyone that may know someone with interest.

Midlands University has added Shotgun Sports to their Varsity Sports program.  That means they will be giving scholarships to people competing in shooting events, only the second university in the country to do so.  This year they have 40 $10,000 scholarships they are giving out and will be competing in five events, American Trap, International Trap, American Skeet, International Skeet, and Sporting Clays.

They have hired Bret Erickson 4 time Olympic shooter and 3 year coach of the US team (including last Olympics) as their head coach.  A couple of links about Brett:

And Midlands website:

Thought folks here may know some High School Seniors that may be interested in getting part of their college education paid for and getting a chance to do some shooting at the schools expense.  Midlands University is furnishing shells and targets for those in the program all the student needs is their own shot gun and a desire to learn.

Brett is currently working hard to find 40 students interested in taking these scholarships off his hands, the University wants to see this program as a success and wants all 40 scholarship awarded this year.  Brett's goal is to have a team that in three to four years will be winning the National's and with the popularity of Trap in this state it is entirerly possible.

It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.
