Boss handed me this on a sticky note when I got into work around 10:30PM tonight.

His looking at the list assumption is possibly these folks weren't up for re-election and worked the system for bennies or something.

I've not gone through the list and tried to verify his assumption.

Not to argue (because I do believe the GOP has lost its way and most the above Senators are RINOs), but the premise has been noted that forcing a vote to once and for all bring this to the floor will expose the idiocy of it all.  Keep in mind there are 6 Democrats from reddish state up for reelection in 2014.  Max Baucus of MT and Mary Landreau of LA are two of them.  My suspicion is this may be a way to call them out publicly i.e. if they vote for the legislation they are going to get trounced in their states in 2014.  Finally, there is NO way this legislation in its current state will pass through the House.   Food for thought.....

A couple of those Senators are not exactly gun friendly (no matter what their NRA rating is), and they faced some very heavy lobbying by MAIG who spent large amounts of money back in their states getting people to contact the Senators offices and pressure for this bill.

This is what happens when our opposition has lots of cash and can motivate their base to act.
